In the series “The Insurance Detectives” Patrick Hufen has to deal with an animal case.
Doberschütz – Insurance detective Patrick Hufen is certainly used to some lies and fairy tales. But what a car driver from the vicinity of Leipzig wants to serve him seems more than curious to the TV expert.

The case: At the beginning of November, Mr. Brauer caught a cat while driving on a country road near Doberschütz. The animal is named Susi and lives with Mrs. Nowak – who initially got a real shock!
“Mr Brauer told me that he drove very slowly outside and that Susi ran in front of his car. Susi only came back late in the evening,” reports the Doberschützerin in “Die Versicherungsdetektiven” on RTL.
Amazing: Although the cat is said to have been hit head-on by the car, Susi is doing extremely well. A visit to the vet also proves that the velvet paw is doing well.
However, Mr Brauer insists on the violent collision: You can recognize it by the broken bumper, which he documented with a cell phone photo. “He wanted to have paid for the damage,” continues the astonished cat mom.
A pet owner insurance could cover the damage. To do this, however, it would first have to be proven that the collision actually occurred.

To prove this, insurance detective Patrick Hufen wants to look at Mr Brauer’s car with an expert. And fact: both the bumper and the radiator grille were depressed. It is more than doubtful that the damage happened as a result of the collision with Susi.
“If there is an accident with an animal, you should see fur or traces of blood somewhere, especially if that was not that long ago,” said the expert. There are also gaps in Mr. Brauer’s story. “We see the damage, but it was not caused by Susi,” concludes Patrick Hufen.
The decision should please Mrs. Nowak and Susi – but Mr. Brauer draws completely different conclusions from the outcome of the investigation.
“I am sad how I am treated. Next time I will really drive,” said the ex-animal lover.
