In Australia, a group of archaeologists have discovered unique bone tools in the world famous Reeve Cave in Kimberley in the west of the country. According to preliminary estimates, the age of the find is from 35 to 46 thousand years.

Eight bone tools have been found. Some of them were found in those layers of the rock that date back to a period of more than 35 thousand years ago. To date, these are the oldest instruments that have been discovered in Australia.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that these tools were actively used for the production of various products from plants and leather. They also dug up and processed resin. They could have used these tools for hunting as well.

Researchers from several universities took part in the excavation, in particular: Griffith University, University of Western Australia, Australian National University. Professor Michelle Langley of Griffith University stated that the tools were in a native Australian toolbox.
