In him, everyone is called to overcome the tendency to close themselves in their own situation and become open to meeting, sharing and solidarity.

On Saturday (21/01/23) at the Vatican, Pope Francis made the following remarks while addressing the representatives of the organization of those who were disabled during military service or civil service in Italy at the Papal residence, encouraging them to move forward with courage despite their disability.

Papa Avaro said that the limitation, the burden to be borne, does not disappear, it remains the same, but it acquires a different figurative meaning and the condition of disability needs to be replaced by a “minor sign” instead of a “more sign”.

The Pope also recalled that the change from negativity to sentimentality is one of the essential elements of the mystery of Jesus Christ. Recalling that some were disabled while carrying out peacekeeping missions or maintaining public order, the Pope said that being peacemakers is the task of all, regardless of circumstances.

The Pope added that in daily life, we must try to deal with conflicts, avoiding all violence and oppression, and that it is not easy because sometimes one word is enough to hurt or humiliate a brother or sister.
