A picture with laughing managers was probably the drop that caused the barrel to overflow. In the night of Wednesday, the CEO posted the Credit Suisse. Tidjane Thiam. a photo on Instagram that showed him and the executive committee members laughing. It was created after a working lunch and suggested broad support for the CS boss, as the “NZZ am Sonntag” wrote.
The picture has caused severe irritation within the big bank, the newspaper continues. Not everyone in the photo was clear that it would be published. They felt they had been misused by Thiam for a PR coup. The picture sealed what had emerged in the days before: Thiam’s departure, as the “NZZ am Sonntag” explains.
Meanwhile, foreign CS shareholders threatened to dismiss Chairman of the Board of Directors Urs Rohner if he overthrew him. This was not well received by the board of directors. “We don’t act on call,” was the position on the board of directors, the newspaper writes. The Board of Directors suspected that the CS CEO had consulted with these shareholders. Other shareholders had assured Rohner of their support. (Chk)
