Insomniac Games: Sony paid $ 229 million to buy the studio

Insomniac Games and Sony, it’s always been a great love story, the developer being at the origin of the franchises Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance, which have delighted players on the various PlayStation. But Ted Price’s studio made some infidelities to Sony, whether with Fuse on PS3 and Xbox 360, but above all Sunset Overdrive, long exclusive to the Xbox One of Microsoft before landing on PC four years later.

But Sony decided to go on the offensive last summer redeeming Insomniac Games, who joins the big family SIE and should develop titles exclusive to the consoles of the Japanese manufacturer in the future. A buyout that still cost $ 229 million Sony, as indicated a recent financial statement.

Admittedly, this is a very large sum, but Spider-Man is the best-selling superhero game in the United States, with over nine million copies sold worldwide at the start of last year. Clearly, Sony should quickly recoup the $ 229 million spent on Insomniac Games.
