LAS VEGAS,NV – A strained relationship with his children has reached a critical juncture for Sister Wives star Kody Brown,with son Gabriel Brown detailing a recent ultimatum delivered to his father. The fallout stems from years of perceived control and a lack of accountability,culminating in a demand for genuine change or permanent estrangement.
The rift initially surfaced during the COVID-19 pandemic, with disagreements over Kody’s strict restrictions creating initial distance. Even as public health mandates eased, the divide persisted, fueled by Kody’s belief that his children were disloyal to his rules, according to a recounting by Janelle Brown, Gabriel’s mother, and mother to Logan Brown, hunter Brown, Garrison Brown, Madison Brush, and Savannah Brown.
“He kept phrasing it like I owed him an apology,” Gabriel explained to Janelle in an October 2024 episode of Sister Wives. “eventually I was just like, ‘Hey, unless you’re, like, actually ready to have a relationship and fix things, then we’re not going to talk anymore.’ He came back a couple of days later and texted me. He’s like, ‘Hey, I’ve been, like, thinking about what you’ve been saying. I forgive you, Please forgive me.’ I was like, ‘forgive me for what?'”
Despite a previously close bond – Gabriel once accompanied Kody on buisness trips – he remains perplexed by the need for forgiveness. He ultimately told his father, “If he doesn’t change and he can’t take accountability, then I just won’t ever see him again. And I’m perfectly OK with that.”
