Nationalgeographic.co.id—A citizen scientist named Seán Doran compiled a photo mosaic out of 62 photos taken by him explorer robot Perseverance of Mars. Mosaic photo above Red Planet it looks pretty. In these photo mosaics Igenuity and helicopters explorer robot Perseverance belongs NASA looks like he is taking a selfie together alias wefie.

It took several hours to make this mosaic. Doran uploaded a photo mosaic via his Twitter account, @_TheSeaning. He said that the 62 photos were compiled through a “de-noise, repair and upscale process” before combining them.

“Then there is the tedious task of correcting exposure differences between images. Then processing the other images to arrive at the final display,” Doran said as reported. Space.com.

NASA also had the chance to share animated photo mosaics of the scenery from the photos taken by Perseverance. They call it the result of a “selfie” featuring an animated image explorer robot it was looking in the direction of Ingenuity, then facing the camera mounted on its own arm. The mosaic was also made using 62 photos, the office said NASA.

Exploratory robot Mars Perseverance NASA took a selfie with an Ingenuity helicopter, seen here about 13 feet (4 meters) away in this image from April 6, 2021, the day Mars 46th, or sol, of the mission, “wrote the Jet Propulsion Laboratory official NASA in the description of the photos they upload. They are a team that oversees missions explorer robot Perseverance while on Mars.

The two mosaics also indirectly capture clues related to the preparation of this historic moment in the exploration of the Red Planet. The members of the exploration mission team are reportedly preparing Ingenuity for its first test flight on Mars. The NASA helicopter flight test can take place as early as Sunday, April 11, 2021.

If Ingenuity manages to explore Mars by flying through the air, future Red Planet missions will likely continue using helicopters. Flying objects like these can serve as guides for rover robots on Mars as well as collect data over the surface of the Red Planet, according to NASA officials.

In this mission, Ingenuity will not collect any data, because the 1.8 kilograms helicopter does not carry any scientific instruments. However, the flight test process on Mars will still be recorded using a high-resolution camera. It’s even possible that the Perseverance rover robot could record Ingenuity’s flight audio using two built-in microphones, NASA officials said.

“It’s great to see new photos of other planets, but this one is very special, and I wish the technology demo a great success,” Doran said of the Ingenuity flight test plans to be recorded by Perseverance.

After Ingenuity’s work is completed, Perseverance will begin to focus on its own science mission. The six-wheeled rover robot will look for signs of ancient Mars life. It will also collect and store dozens of samples before returning to Earth.
