Influenza Coronavirus Colombia Vaccines: Can influenza and COVID-19 vaccines be given together? | Health

The Ministry of Health reported the start of a massive vaccination campaign against influenza, pointing out that this vaccine and that of COVID-19 It can be applied on the same day depending on the brand of injections.

The COVID-19 vaccine of the laboratories Pfizer-BioNTechModerna and Janssen and the vaccine such as influenza can be administered on the same day, without the need to save a minimum time between one vaccine and another, according to the Health Portfolio based on information from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta.

On the other hand, people who have applied the COVID vaccine from Sinovac and AstraZeneca laboratories must keep a minimum period of 14 days before or after administration of the influenza vaccine because there is not yet enough scientific evidence that allows co-administration with other biologics.

The Ministry of Health recalled that every certain period of time the prioritized population (high risk) must apply a new Influenza vaccine taking into account that year after year the new vaccines available incorporate different strains corresponding to each period of influenza activity.

For the vaccination campaign that began this Saturday to the country, 5,447,600 doses arrived (2,092,800 pediatric and 3,354,800 adults) that have already been distributed to all territories.
