“Influencer Dies After Competing in Online Drinking Challenge on Chinese Tik Tok”

Chinese media reported that a social media influencer died shortly after he appeared in a live broadcast on the Chinese version of the “Tik Tok” application, while drinking several bottles of a strong alcoholic drink.

He added that the results were broadcast live on his account on the Chinese “Douyin” network, similar to the “Tik Tok” application.

“I don’t know how much he drank before I saw him live,” said a friend of the influencer, Zhao. “But in the last part of the video, I saw him finish three bottles before starting a fourth.”

“The challenge ended around 1am and by 1pm, when his family found him, he was dead,” he added.

Zhao said his friend had a history of filming himself participating in similar contests involving alcohol and posting them on social media.
