Indre-et-Loire pharmacies soon to be replenished with hydroalcoholic gel Info Tours.fr News from Info Tours.fr

A factory is going to make them for them.

For several weeks, finding hydroalcoholic gel in the pharmacies of Indre-et-Loire has been mission impossible overall, and we are not even talking about the masks that are requisitioned for health professionals. So hard to find that the calls for donations multiply: CHU of Tours, ASSAD-HAD (for hospitalization at home), liberal nurses and, even … an organic store in Tours North who wishes to make available of its staff.

In short, the general public is not ready to have masks at their disposal and, anyway, the government insists that if you are not sick it is not very useful. On the other hand to wash the hands the hydroalcoholic gel can prove to be necessary. For confined people who stay at home, soap and water are enough. For others who are still working outside their homes, small bottles could be precious, in addition to respecting barrier gestures (staying within 1m of each other, no kisses …).

In the absence of sufficient stocks, pharmacies are out of stock, but this should change within a few days. We learn this weekend that the 300 pharmacies of Indre-et-Loire and the neighboring department of Loir-et-Cher will be able to benefit from the production of the Boiron factory in Montrichard-Val de Cher (in the 41, all near the border with Touraine).

Usually devoted to the manufacture of homeopathic medicines, this factory will change gear to produce the famous gels and distribute them locally. It has all the necessary equipment.

What is striking is that we learned only a few days ago that this site was promised to close at the end of 2021 because Boiron will reduce its staff. Why ? Because of the decision of the French State to totally defund homeopathy. A choice that has strongly impacted the demand for laboratory products. 69 permanent positions will be eliminated. However, the Boiron site located in our department in Notre-Dame-d’Oé should continue to operate.
