TEL AVIV, KOMPAS.com – Army Radio, a military-owned radio station Israel report delegation from Indonesia visited Israel recently to discuss coping strategies corona virus.
The report states that health officials from Indonesia came to Israel to “learn how to deal with the coronavirus pandemic”, as well as meet with Israeli officials.
However, the report did not specify who the delegates were and when exactly the visit took place.
The Indonesian Ministry of Health said it did not send a delegation to Israel.
“There is no yes from the Ministry of Health either,” said Siti Nadia Tarmizi, Director of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control at the Ministry of Health, as quoted from Second.
Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not confirm the visit of the Indonesian delegation to its country, but said Israel “believes in international cooperation in all things to fight the coronavirus” and they are ready to share information and experiences.
Israel and Indonesia do not have diplomatic relations, so official visits between the two countries are rare.
But for years there have been calls and appeals for the two countries to establish formal relations.
During a visit to Jakarta last December, the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, discussed with the Indonesian government so that Indonesia could normalize relations with Israel.
But at that time the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Indonesia’s attitude was still consistent regarding Palestine and “Indonesia will continue with the Palestinian people to fight for justice and independence.”
Although there is no official relationship, a spokesman for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in 2018 that the ban on visits for tourists from Indonesia to Israel had been lifted.
Covid-19 in Israel
Earlier in January, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said they had started offering the fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to citizens over 60 and health workers. This becomes a program booster second in the country.
“Israel will once again be at the forefront of global vaccination efforts,” Prime Minister Bennett said at the time.
However, the fourth dose of Pfizer-BioNtech was deemed insufficient to prevent transmission of the Omicron variant, according to preliminary data from the Israeli study, which was announced Monday, as reported by the news agency. Reuters.
From these trials, the antibodies from the fourth injection were indeed higher than the third injection, but not enough to prevent transmission.
Previously, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Israel, Nachman Ash said his country could achieve mass immunity when Omicron transmission increased.
He also said the anti-viral pill molnupiravir made by the company Merck & Co was approved for use in Israel for Covid-19 patients aged over 18 years.
