All Indonesians in Nepal Safe Amid Unrest: foreign Ministry
Jakarta, Indonesia – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the safety of all Indonesian citizens in Nepal following recent unrest in the country. Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection,Judha Nugraha,stated that the Indonesian Embassy in Kathmandu has been proactively coordinating to ensure their well-being.
“As the demonstrations broke out in Nepal, we have been coordinating intensively with the Indonesian Embassy in Kathmandu. They promptly took protective measures,” Nugraha said from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Saturday.
A total of 134 Indonesian citizens were registered in Nepal during the period of unrest – 56 residents and 78 short-term visitors attending conferences or traveling for tourism. The embassy swiftly compiled data and arranged repatriation flights.
As of September 13th, 57 Indonesian citizens have been repatriated: 18 on September 11th, 22 on September 12th, and 17 more on the 13th. An additional 17 are scheduled to return on September 14th, followed by two on september 15th and two on September 18th.
“All Indonesians in Nepal are expected to return home by September 18, 2025,” Nugraha confirmed.
The Indonesian representative in Nepal continues to monitor citizens who have chosen to remain due to family commitments. “They will take protective measures if the unrest escalates. However,as of today,the situation is calm,and the airport reopened a few days ago,” Nugraha added.
He expressed optimism for a swift return to normalcy in nepal, ensuring the continued security of Indonesian citizens still in the country.
