Indonesia Masters 2022 Results: Through Drama Rubber Game, Marcus/Kevin Advances to the Quarter Finals All

KOMPAS.com – Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, managed to advance to the quarter-finals Indonesia Masters 2022.

Marcus/Kevin secured a ticket to the quarter-finals after dramatically defeating the Thai pair, Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong, in the round of 16 match at the Indonesia Masters 2022.

The men’s doubles pair nicknamed The Minions won with a score of 21-14, 8-21, 21-18 after playing for 56 minutes against Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong at Istora Senayan Jakarta on Thursday (9/6/2022).

With this victory, Marcus/Kevin has the right to advance to the quarter-finals, following an Indonesian men’s doubles pair that had already qualified, namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

Indonesia still has the opportunity to add one more men’s doubles representative to the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters if Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan manage to beat South Korean representatives, Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae, in the next match.

The course of the match

Marcus/Kevin immediately took a 4-0 lead over Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong at the start of the first game.

The Thai pair had tried to get closer to the position of 3-4. However, The Minions were able to get back away and lead 8-3.

Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong again tried to catch up, but Marcus/Kevin managed to maintain an 11-7 advantage when they entered the first game interval.

After the break, Marcus / Kevin immediately stepped on the gas and got four consecutive points to lead 15-7 over Supak Jomkoh / Kedren Kittinupong.

Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong tried to get up and win one point after another.

At that critical point, the Thai pair managed to make it difficult for Marcus/Kevin. They tried to erode the margin of points to 14-20.

Kevin Sanjaya’s return came off the field and made the Thai pair close out the third game interval with an 11-7 advantage over the Minions.

After the break, the Thai pair managed to take the first point and lead 12-7.

Marcus/Kevin don’t want to give up yet. They also managed to rise and equalize to 15-15.

The momentum for Marcus/Kevin’s revival has arrived. The Minions successfully turned 17-16 ahead.

Marcus/Kevin then restrained Supak Jomkoh/Kedren Kittinupong and managed to touch match point first at 20-17.
