Indomobil Caplok Majority Shares of PT Nissan Motor Distributor Indonesia

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – In the midst of the condition of the automotive market that is currently in decline, Nissan Motor take corporate action in Indonesia by selling a majority stake in Nissan’s automobile distributor in Indonesia, PT Nissan Motor Distributor of Indonesia (NMDI) to the Indomobil group.

The share sale agreement was carried out through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties in Jakarta and the results were published today, Friday, August 6, 2020.

In the memorandum of understanding, Indomobil Group will have a majority stake in PT NMDI, and Nissan Motor will still maintain a 25 percent shareholding in this company.

Deeper collaboration with Nissan will open up great opportunities to strengthen our services for the benefit of customers and business partners, “said Jusak Kertowidjojo, President Director and CEO of Indomobil Group commenting on the agreement.

The MoU of the two companies is said to be part of an effort to form a strategic partnership to strengthen the Nissan brand in the Indonesian automotive market.

“As part of Nissan Next, Nissan’s global transformation plan to encourage sustainable and profitable growth, Nissan will encourage a focused sales and service strategy in Indonesia by strengthening its collaboration with local partners, Indomobil Group,” said Isao Sekiguchi, President Director, Nissan at Indonesia.

Isao San said the memorandum of understanding underscored Nissan’s commitment to continue to build its brand in Indonesia and always provide the best service to 300,000 Nissan customers in Indonesia, now and in the future.

Isao Sekiguchi stated, Nissan in Indonesia will continue to launch various new products in strategic segments and lead in electric mobility in Indonesia. This includes the launch of the all-new Nissan Kicks e-Power and Nissan Leaf, as well as other models.
