Professional baseball Lotte Giants pitcher Seo Jun-won has been put on trial for sexual assault against a minor.
The Busan District Prosecutor’s Office announced that it had indicted Seo without detention for violating the Act on the Protection of Sexuality of Children and Adolescents.
Mr. Seo is accused of committing a sex-related crime against a minor victim he learned online in August of last year.
The prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Seo, but the court dismissed it as there was no risk of escape and destruction of evidence.
The Lotte Giants held a disciplinary committee and released Mr. Seo.
