The virus continues to spread in Asia. India has passed 500,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, the government announced on Saturday June 27, with a record of some 18,500 new infections in one day. The country counts a total of 15 685 deaths due to Covid-19 and according to epidemiologists, the epidemic has not yet reached its peak, expected in several weeks. The milestone of one million cases should therefore be exceeded during the month of July.
If India is in a phase of exit from containment, some States are thinking of reimposing strict measures. The coronavirus circulates in a disturbing way in the densely populated cities of the country, with the main concern the capital New Delhi, which with nearly 80,000 cases, is now more affected than Bombay.
