One of Hungary’s most popular meteorologists, Lajos Németh, has been on the screen for decades and regularly reports on the expected weather. However, there was a situation where he himself was greatly mistaken.

The current weather forecast was only communicated by the meteorologist to the dear viewers. Yet people tied them to his person. On that ominous day, I said at the end of the News: dear viewers, no significant snow is expected in Hungary until tomorrow night.

This means that more than an inch or two of snow will not fall. As a meteorologist, it has been my habit every morning for 46 years that when I get up, I open the balcony door and look around to see what’s new, what happened in the atmosphere, what was said in the forecast. I wanted to do the same the morning after the forecast, but the balcony was gone, so much snow buried it. Or it fell half a meter, many did not even find their car. That was the buck of my life as a meteorologist.
The next day Lajos Németh was on screen again and was forced to apologize for the mistake:
