The Congress of the Dialogue decided on Saturday that Gergely Karácsony will be the mayor of the Dialogue. With regard to the common opposition list, this means that he will be ranked first among the dialogue politicians on it.
Péter Márki-Zay, the candidate for prime minister of the opposition, was given a few days ago interview with the Index, where he said he would like the prime ministerial candidates to run in the top five on the list in the order of their achievements. According to this, Gergely Karácsony will be in the third place on the joint opposition list next April.
However, in a press conference after the congress, the mayor said:
his candidacy is symbolic, he does not want to be a member of parliament in 2022.

The mayor still wants to develop Budapest, but already together with a government led by Péter Márki-Zay, which sees local government as an ally, not a thing to crush.
On the list of the Dialogue, Christmas will be followed by Rebeka Szabó, Deputy Mayor of Zugló, the third will be Olivio Kocsis-Cake, who currently works as a Member of Parliament in the Dialogue faction, followed by Sándor Berki, a Roma politician, and Adrienn Jakál from Sopron.
The congress has also decided that the Dialogue will recommend politicians on the common list of the opposition who will not run in an individual parliamentary constituency next year. Therefore, Tímea Szabó, Bence Tordai and Dávid Dorosz, who were successful in the pre-selection, for example, are not at the top of the list either, because they trust in their individual victory.
The opposition’s joint prime ministerial candidate was also present at the announcement. Péter Márki-Zay tried to reassure anyone who would be worried that the opposition unit would crack, which he said was out of the question.
