Incidence continues to fall – universities may open again soon

In Berlin the incidence value has fallen below 40. However, the RKI continues to warn of possibly incorrect figures due to the Whitsun weekend.

Soon to be present again at Berlin universities

The corona incidence value in Berlin is stable below the critical 100 mark. After outdoor catering and culture were allowed to open in the fresh air last week, the universities could soon follow suit.

From June 4, the approximately 25,000 teachers and 200,000 students in Berlin are to have access to their teaching and study rooms again. There are already detailed plans for implementation.

Wednesday, May 26th: Seven-day value falls below 40

The incidence continues to decline on Wednesday as well. According to the RKI, it is 39.3. 230 new infections and 14 deaths were registered.

The RKI also notes that there may be irregularities in the corona data due to the Whitsun weekend.

Tuesday, May 25th: The incidence value drops below 50

On Tuesday, the RKI reported a seven-day incidence of 46.5 for Berlin. This means that the incidence is below the 50 mark for the first time since October 2020. In addition, 76 new infections and one death were registered.

Since the pandemic began, 177,305 people in Berlin have tested positive for Covid-19. 3,440 of them died.

Monday, May 24th: Incidence increases minimally

On Whit Monday, the RKI reports an incidence of 55.9 for Berlin. The value has increased accordingly by 0.4. 50 new infections and one death were registered.

The Robert Koch Institute points out, however, that there may be irregularities due to the lower number of registrations due to the extended weekend with Whitsun holidays.

Sunday, May 23rd: the incidence value fell again slightly

The Robert Koch Institute reports an incidence of 55.5 for the state of Berlin on Sunday. This means that the value is slightly below that of the previous day. In addition, 146 new infections and nine deaths were registered.

Saturday, May 22nd: the incidence value decreases over the weekend

On Saturday, the RKI reported an incidence value of 56.1 for Berlin. The value is thus lower than the day before. In addition, 280 new infections and 7 further deaths related to Covid-19 were registered.

33 cases of the Indian mutant in Berlin

On Friday, a spokesman for the Berlin health administration gave information about the spread of the Indian mutants. The mutant designated as B.1.617 has now been detected 33 times in Berlin.

The authorities are expecting the number of cases to rise, as this is a virus variant with a “high potential for spreading”. 3,000 cases of the Indian mutant have already been reported in the UK.

The Robert Koch Institute in Berlin reports an increased incidence of 60.4 for Friday morning. There were also 256 new infections and six deaths reported.

Thursday, May 20: Incidence value lower than the previous day

The incidence situation in Berlin continues to ease. For the third day in a row, the incidence value has now fallen and is 56.3. 462 new infections and four deaths were registered.

Wednesday, May 19: Incidence drops again

Also on Wednesday morning, the Berlin seven-day incidence is 61.5 lower than the day before. The RKI also reports 381 new infections and nine new deaths related to Covid-19.

Tuesday, May 18: the incidence is falling

The seven-day incidence in Berlin has decreased again. The RKI reported a value of 63.0 on Tuesday. In addition, 371 new infections were registered and there were four deaths related to Covid-19.

Monday, May 17th: the incidence value rises again

At the beginning of the week, the RKI reports an increased incidence of 68.6 for Berlin. In addition, the city’s health authorities registered 91 new infections. There were no deaths related to Covid-19.

Thanks to the fifth working day in a row with an incidence below 100, there will be the first corona easing this week in Berlin.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 175,283 people have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 in Berlin. 3,399 of them died.
