In Ukraine, 3 factories can produce vaccine against COVID-19

At least three large factories in Ukraine are ready to produce vaccines against COVID-19 under the technology transfer scheme. Its essence is that the leading company-developer of the drug can transfer the technology with a full cycle to the manufacturer.

About this in an interview Lb.ua said the Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Victor Lyashko… He refused to name specific firms.

As the minister noted, the fastest opportunity to launch own vaccine production is technology transfer. It can take place on a commercial or free basis.

In order to use such a mechanism, changes in legislation are needed in Ukraine, Lyashko said. He explained this by the fact that “sometimes there are certain warnings from the technology transferring company about the specifics of the further functioning of this site.”

“The main task of the state is for us to have our own production. Accordingly, we must ensure the state order for this product,” said the head of the Ministry of Health.

“I think that without changes in the legislation, this cannot be implemented. For example, someone who will give us technology will ask for tax breaks and the like,” he added.

When asked which Ukrainian factories are ready to accept the transfer of technology for the full cycle of vaccine production, the minister replied: “Few.”

Lyashko was asked why he refuses to name them, to which he said: “Why talk about this now? These are large factories, at least three.”

“I will not say things now that are not supported by certain actions. I am telling you the ideology. That from the other side someone is considering the possibility of transferring technology in Ukraine, and from this side someone is ready to accept. But there are no signed memorandums yet. and there is no understanding of what the state should guarantee for this to happen. It is still at the stage of negotiations, “Lyashko continued.

According to him, negotiations with American and European partners have already begun, but there are no agreements yet.
