In “Ticket to Heaven”, George Clooney and Julia Roberts shot 80 takes for the kissing scene

George Clooney and Julia Roberts, who have been close friends for years, repeated the one kissing scene in their new movie “Ticket to Heaven” 80 times during filming, they revealed to the New York Times.

“I told my wife (Amal): we needed 80 takes. She gave a ‘Fuck it’ look, Clooney says. Julia Roberts has to explain:

“79 times we burst out laughing, only on the 80th time we managed to kiss. It took us like 6 months.”

In their first romantic comedy together, the two Hollywood superstars play divorced husbands who take a wildfire trip to Bali to prevent their daughter’s hasty marriage. She fell madly in love with a local young man after a few days of flirting on vacation. Daughter Lily is a brilliant student who goes on an exotic journey with her best friend to celebrate her graduation.

However, she falls so deeply in love with Gede, whom she barely knows, that she decides to throw away her entire life and marry him. This prompts the two parents to rush to the Indonesian island and attempt to bury the tomahawk in an attempt to sabotage the marriage and prevent the girl from making the same fatal mistake they made 25 years ago by getting married too young in college.

After a series of comical and absurd situations, the ex-spouses discover that the spark between them has not completely died out. Having decided to solve their child’s problems, they are ultimately rather going to solve their own problems with each other and reconcile.

The tape hit screens in Bulgaria this week. It was supposed to start screening in the UK on September 20, but was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. In the US, the big screen release is scheduled for October 21st.

Just like their off-screen relationship where they can’t stop joking with each other, the two great actors had a lot of fun on set as well. Roberts points out that she is extremely grateful to Clooney because she saved her from loneliness during their work together in distant Australia late last year. Her 54-year-old beauty claims she has never been separated from her husband Danny Moder and their three teenage children for so long.

Unlike Clooney, who was accompanied to the set by his wife Amal and their 5-year-old twins, Roberts was alone. Fortunately, the houses in which the main contractors lived were next to each other and could often visit each other. Thus, Julia, who was “Aunt Juju” to Clooney’s children, was able to shake off the thoughts of being separated from her loved ones.

The script for the film, which they are both producing, was written specifically for them, Clooney revealed. Even in the original version, the characters were called Georgia and Julian (in the tape his name is now David). “I haven’t been doing a romantic comedy since One Fine Day,” says Clooney (she co-starred with Michelle Pfeiffer in that 1996 movie).

But he decided that once Jules got up, it would be fun. For her, this is the first such role since “Notting Hill” (1999) and “My Best Friend’s Wedding” (1997). However, Roberts points out that the script is very well suited to the age he and Clooney are now, and the laughs are significant.

“George and I felt a certain happy responsibility of wanting to do a comedy together and give people a little break from life after the world has gone through such rough times. It’s like walking down the sidewalk and it’s cold outside, but suddenly the sun comes out and warms your back. Then you say to yourself, “This is exactly what I needed,” Roberts explains to the New York Times.

The brilliant actor duo also recalled how they had to spend 14 days in total seclusion in Sydney before filming began in November 2021. I never lived, “says Roberts.” Well that’s why people invented alcohol. “, Clooney chimed in with his signature humor.” Yes, and the chocolate chips too, “he adds.

Friends have quite a lot of movies in common behind them. They have been close since “Ocean’s Gang” (2001) and “Ocean’s Gang 2” (2004), followed by other projects like “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” and “The Pulse of Money”. When asked by the “New York Post” about what their next adventure together could be, the two answered with one voice: “Western”. “And maybe a romantic western comedy,” Clooney clarifies.

The director of “Ticket to Heaven” is Ol Parker, known to Bulgarian viewers for “Mama Mia, here we go again”. The cast also includes Caitlin Dever (Lily), Maxime Bouthier (Gede), Billie Lord, Lucas Bravo and others.
