Associated Press writes about three dead men, including the pilot, and two women. Police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said 13,000 houses were left without electricity. The Federal Aviation Administration clarified that the balloon fell from a height of about 30 meters and caught fire.
According to Gallegos, the balloon’s shell came off and fell onto the roof of an apartment building.
Albuquerque is called the Mecca for hot air ballooning. HAccidents are not uncommon in this city. There have been 12 fatal hot air balloon accidents in the United States since 2008, according to the agency.
In 2016 in neighboring Texas the balloon fell on a high voltage power lineand then crashed into a pasture in the central part of the state. All 16 people on board were killed.
In August last year, three balloons fell in Wyoming, on which there were a total of 36 people… Of these, 11 ended up in local hospitals, and one in a trauma center.
