Brittany, Mayenne, New Aquitaine, in several areas of France, health authorities are worried an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Also in the North, where 31 foci of contamination have been identified, the Regional Health Agency and the prefecture call for the greatest vigilance to avoid a possible resumption of the epidemic. But in Lille public transport, for example, more and more people are relaxing.
“I do not wear it, because I have the impression that there is no longer even this coronavirus”, confides to Europe 1 Sofiane, who has nothing on his face. After taking the subway, he shakes the hand of his friend, who also left his mask at home. “There is also the time factor. When it is hot, it is not necessarily obvious,” he said.
“Fines must be imposed”
Of course, it is a minority who do not wear the mask, but it is often the way of wearing it that annoys: on the chin, under the nose, or simply in the hand. Unacceptable behavior for Ali. “You have to put fines in fact,” he gets annoyed. “I think that’s the problem. There are agents, they see someone without the mask, they don’t intervene. For me, it’s a real problem”.
According to Bertrand Legrand, secretary general of the Confédération Syndicale des Médecins de France in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, this relaxation is linked to the fact that the virus is less dangerous for people. “People have a popular intelligence. When they see that the people around them fall, they know that they are in danger. When they no longer see anyone falling, they know that the danger is very theoretical”.
The concern is all the greater for this specialist because when people let their guard down, the virus circulates more. We will know in the coming weeks if there is an epidemic rebound.
