In the middle of Manhattan: AC Hotels by Marriott opens in New York

With the opening of the new AC Hotel New York Times Square, the design brand from Marriott International celebrates its debut in New York. The newest hotspot in Midtown Manhattan has 290 rooms and a rooftop lounge with a view of the Empire State Building.

Just a short walk from Times Square and the Garment District, the new AC Hotel is ideally located. The house with its eye-catching glass facade combines an urban feeling with classic design elements that go back to the brand’s Spanish roots.

The seven meter high lobby merges into a wide, open staircase, which is flooded with light through a skylight and forms the ideal backdrop for the hotel’s art installations. The 290 rooms in the classic-modern style are supposed to be oases of calm in the midst of the hustle and bustle and, with their floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies, offer a unique view over the city. Photographs of the unmistakable New York architecture complement the furnishings.

Helpern Architects is responsible for contemporary European architecture paired with modern design influences from the New York fashion district. As soon as you enter the lobby through a forecourt paved with granite, your gaze wanders to the noble materials such as the Venetian terrazzo floors, the dark walnut wood and the bronze accents. The artworks range from sculptures to abstract paintings and are from local and famous artists.

Right next to the lobby, the popular New York restaurant brand “Boqueria” offers authentic Spanish cuisine – from European-inspired breakfast to lunch and dinner. The year-round rooftop lounge “Castell” is accessible to hotel guests and locals alike and attracts with a culinary sharing principle, happy hour offers and cocktails against the backdrop of the New York skyline.

A fitness center, more than 1,000 square meters of event space and an AC Market with local products such as spicy Hell’s Kitchen sauces complete the offer of the AC Hotel New York Times Square. Incidentally, the hotel is the first of the brand’s two hotel projects in Manhattan this year: The second hotel is due to open later in the year in the financial district.
