TEGAL, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Chairman of the City DPRD Tegal Wasmad Edi Susilo (WES) was finally appointed as suspect by the police.

WES is considered to have violated the law because it held a celebration party with dangdutan in the midst of a pandemic and did not heed the warnings given by the police.

“After conducting a series of investigations, we determined the suspect to the reported on behalf of WES,” said Tegal City Police Chief AKBP Rita Wulandari Wibowo accompanied by Kasatreskrim AKP Syuaib Abdullah at a press conference at the Tegal City Police Headquarters, Monday (9/28/2020).

According to Rita, the basis for the initial investigation was a police report or LP / A / 91 / IX / 2020 / Central Java / Res Tegal Kota dated 25 September.

After doing enough research and initial evidence then proceed to the investigation.

“There is preliminary evidence which is sufficient for us to increase into an investigation,” said the Police Chief.

The police chief conveyed that the suspect’s modus operandi in carrying out a celebration of marriage and circumcision was by inviting guests with entertainment attended by thousands of people without paying attention to health protocols.

“And ignore the warnings given by the authorities,” said Rita.

According to Rita, in the case which was handled by the joint investigators from the Central Java Police and the Tegal City Police, at least 15 witnesses had asked for information.

“The investigation after carrying out a series of attempts to examine 15 witnesses and several experts. There are criminal experts, health experts and linguists,” said Rita.

At least seven pieces of evidence were also secured. Starting from a letter of introduction to the RT, an introduction to the village, a statement signed by WES, a permit issued by the police, to 1 DVD containing a video recording of the event.

“It is thought that Article 93 of Law No. 6 of 2018 on the Health of Jo’s Health. Article 216 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Jo. Article 65 of Article 1 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a maximum of one year imprisonment,” said Rita.

According to Rita, even though he was named a suspect, WES was not detained.

Chairman of the DPD Golkar Party Tegal City this will only be subject to compulsory reporting while waiting for the legal process to proceed.

“Seeing the threat of punishment, we did not detain. We already have a summons for the suspect, we plan to summon Wednesday, after that we are obliged to report while waiting for the legal process to take place,” added the Police Chief.
