A shop visitor, who turned out to be the wife of the Belgian ambassador, was suspected of stealing clothes. In response, she hit the seller.

Belgium recalls its ambassador from South Korea after his wife hit a woman in a store and tried to avoid responsibility by using diplomatic immunity, writes BBC.

The incident took place back in early April with the wife of the Belgian ambassador, Peter Lescouche. A fight in a clothing store was caught on surveillance video.

The store staff wanted to make sure the customer could not stand the clothes. During the conflict, Ambassador Xiang Xueetsu’s 63-year-old wife pushed and slapped a female employee in the face.

She later apologized to store employees for her “unacceptable behavior,” the Belgian Foreign Ministry said.

Nonetheless, Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilms decided to terminate the powers of Peter Lescouche after three years in office.

“While Mr. Lescouche selflessly served his country,” the current situation “does not allow him” to continue to calmly fulfill his role, “ it says in the embassy’s Facebook post.
