In November, a new shopping center with a kindergarten will be opened on the border of Riga

“Despite the fragile situation in the pandemic area, we are coming with positive news and continue to implement one of the most important investment projects in Riga in recent years in the shopping center segment. “IKEA” and “SĀGA” will mark a new development potential for Mežciems and Stopiņi neighborhoods, becoming a dynamic environment and a new business center on the outskirts of Riga, “says Juris Barkāns, Director of SIA” VPH “Latvia.

With the implementation of the “SAGA” project, a new stage of development in the segment of shopping centers will begin not only in Latvia, but in the Baltics as a whole. The traditional practice of developing centers will be replaced by the concept of the latest generation of shopping centers, which is being successfully developed elsewhere in Europe, thus the “SAGA” project will become an absolute model in the segment of shopping centers in the Baltics.

“SAGA” will offer a concept that is already recognized in the world, but a new one for the Baltic market, combining shopping for home and garden, recreation, sports, health and office center. Following the new trends in the catering industry, it will be the first shopping center in Latvia with a specially designed street food concept area with restaurants and cafes and the first center with a pre-school institution, which is another added value of the project.

In the “SAGA” home segment, the largest tenants will be the stores “Būvniecības ABC” and “Jysk”. Construction ABC will be the largest store in terms of area with a new unique concept of eco-building materials. The Rimi hypermarket will be located in the everyday goods segment.

The world’s largest sports brand retailer “Decathlon” has announced its arrival in Latvia, which will open the largest store in the Baltics in “SAGA”. “Decathlon” will be part of the first sports cluster in Latvia, combining in one place the widest range of sports goods, fitness centers and outdoor training and recreation opportunities.

The shopping center will be located on the border of Riga and Stopiņi region, next to the “IKEA” shopping center. The new shopping center is planned to be put into operation in the autumn of this year. Its total area will be 57,000 square meters.

Colliers International, a partner with international experience, is involved in the development of the project, whose task is to help develop the concept and manage the process of attracting tenants. The designer and general builder of “SAGA” shopping center is “UPB”.

“SĀGA” shopping center is being developed by SIA “VPH Latvia”, which develops and manages world-class commercial real estate for international and local tenants in the Baltic States and Belarus.
