In Moscow and St. Petersburg, arrests began at rallies to support Khabarovsk residents :: Society :: RBC

Earlier today, rallies in support of Furgal passed in Khabarovsk and cities of the Far East. By data Khabarovsk mayor’s office, 6.5 thousand people took part in the uncoordinated protest action. The protesters marched through the central streets, chanting the slogans “I, we, Sergei Furgal!”, “Furgal is our choice!” and “Fair Court in Khabarovsk!” Promotions took place also in Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

Furgal was detained on July 9. On the same day he was taken to Moscow, where he was arrested for two months, until September 9, on charges of organizing the murders of entrepreneurs in the 2000s. Furgal himself does not admit guilt.

July 20 President Vladimir Putin signed the decree on the resignation of Furgal from the post of governor due to the loss of confidence, the deputy from the LDPR Mikhail Degtyarev became the acting head of the region.
