In Manizales, a pilot test will be carried out to reopen the hotel and tourism sector

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism was visiting Manizales. In Manizales, a pilot test will be carried out to reopen the hotel and tourism sector.

Reopening of the hotel sector

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, José Manuel Restrepo, was visiting Caldas. There he led the actions necessary for economic recovery in the hotel, restaurant and tourism sectors.

Federico Hoyos, presidential adviser, and Juan Carlos Salazar, director of Civil Aeronautics, accompanied the tour.

Officials analyzed the conditions of La Nubia airport, the ground transportation terminal and the hotels. In addition, they collected the information to find out if pilots can be enabled and reactivate these sectors.

“We are in Manizales working with the Governor and the Mayor on opening pilot initiatives in the restaurant sector, in ground transportation, national air transportation and obviously how associated the tourism sector is,” Minister Restrepo told Caracol Radio.

Federico Hoyos stated that the decision was made due to the good management that Caldas y Manizales has given to the control of COVID-19.

The results of the reopening in Manizales will be decisive for the application of these pilots in other cities in the country. From now on, the Mayor’s Office of Manizales must make the request to reopen these sectors before the Ministry of Health. So that they are later authorized by the Ministry of the Interior.
