In Magdeburg and Halle: Corona vaccination appointments are increasingly not being used

In more and more vaccination centers in Saxony-Anhalt, appointments are not booked or not kept. “For us this is difficult to understand,” said a spokesman for the city of Magdeburg MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT. It is possible that people who have not yet been vaccinated are unwilling to vaccinate or see no need for vaccination due to the current infection situation.

On Wednesday, the state capital made 300 vaccination appointments available at short notice, but the response to this was low. Now people in Magdeburg are thinking about changing the times for vaccinations.

Magdeburg’s mayor with appeal

Magdeburg’s Lord Mayor Lutz Trümper (SPD) appealed to the people in the city to get vaccinated. “Of course, like everyone else, I am happy about the stable low case numbers and incidences,” he said in a statement on Thursday. “But there are still far not enough people vaccinated against the coronavirus for us to breathe a sigh of relief and do without careful behavior.” If you don’t want to experience a fourth wave of illness in autumn, many people would have to be vaccinated. And only then can the relaxation be maintained and further steps towards normality can be taken.

The vaccination staff of the state capital also pointed out in the message that it was essential to attend the second vaccination appointment. Only after this is there adequate protection. In addition, the vaccination center asks you to cancel appointments that you missed. If a second vaccination takes place in a general practitioner or specialist practice, the existing appointment at the vaccination center must be canceled.
