In Lyon, underground parties tracked down by a small box

The hunt for too noisy tenants is on. To fight against noise pollution in rental accommodation such as Airbnb, the Spanish start-up Roomonitor has created a small box. Since Wednesday April 14, it has been marketing the tool in Lyon (Rhône), indicates Lyon Capital.

Once installed in the rental accommodation, the sensor measures the sound level. If a certain threshold is exceeded, the owner and tenants receive an alert message. The box does not record conversations.

Fight against wild parties

This box could be particularly useful for owners who want to avoid parties being organized in their homes during the epidemic of coronavirus. “During confinement, the phenomenon of wild parties exploded”, explained the Director Roomonitor France interviewed by The gallery. The company says underground parties have increased by 25% since March 21, “Often in Airbnb accommodation rented for the occasion”.

Roomonitor also offers this service in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). In the Marseille capital, the company even wants to go further by creating “a brigade of silence”. After having been alerted to noise pollution, the owner may request the intervention of night mediators who will be on site in less than 30 minutes. The latter are in the process of being recruited. “This night concierge will allow you to discuss with tenants and remind them of the rules”, assured a manager of the start-up to France Blue Provence.
