In Greece, masks are being brought back indoors

With the arrival of the new holiday season, the movement is intensifying, as well as the activity of young people aged 18-24, and these seem to be the main factors for the increase in new cases of Covid-19 in Greece, the National Public Health Organization commented today. quoted by “Kathimerini”.

The organization’s chairman Theoklis Zautis and epidemiology and preventive medicine expert Dimitris Paraskevis presented today at an emergency briefing in Athens data showing that the number of active cases across the country is currently between 150,000 and 200,000.

Paraskevis noted that the largest increase in cases was in the Ionian and southern Aegean islands, as well as in Crete, but also in Athens.

Experts expect the current wave to peak by the middle of the month.

Hospitalizations and intubations have also increased over the past three weeks, National Public Health Organization officials said, adding that the public health system is not yet under much pressure.

However, they indicated that the expert panel advising the government would recommend that masks be made compulsory again in all indoor public places such as supermarkets and shops.
