Greece has a record daily increase in COVID-19 cases

In the country, almost 5.5 thousand new cases of coronavirus were detected per day, more than fifty people died.

In Greece, 5449 new cases of coronavirus were recorded per day – this is a record since the beginning of the pandemic. About it informs Ekathimerini on Monday 1st November.

New cases were identified on the basis of 82,593 tests performed, which is 6.59%. At the same time, the previous maximum of new cases was recorded on Saturday – 4696. During the day, 52 people died from COVID-19, the total number of deaths associated with coronavirus increased to 15,990.

There are 430 coronavirus patients in intensive care units in Greece.

“We are not done with COVID yet. As long as there are unvaccinated people, the virus finds a suitable ground for spreading. We mourn the loss of life due to unvaccination, and this cannot and should not continue,” said government spokesman Yiannis Oikonomou.

According to the latest data, about 60.5% of Greeks are vaccinated against COVID-19, which is less than the EU average (64.7%).
