Hans Eisenring, the former SBB general director and president of the SBB general management, is dead. He died on Saturday at the age of 87, the SBB said.

Eisenring was a member of the SBB general management from 1983 to 1990. From April 1990 to December 1992, he chaired the general management, as successor to Werner Latscha, who also died at the beginning of December. Eisenring resigned for health reasons.

At the time, he also argued that he wanted to leave the upcoming restructuring of SBB to younger hands. In 1983 he moved from the Flug- und Fahrzeugwerke Altenrhein (FFA) to the three-member SBB general management. Eisenring’s successor was SBB boss Benedikt Weibel in 1993.
