The sword was discovered in late July by Matti Rintamaan, who had bought his first metal detector just two weeks earlier.
Initial searches in his own yard gave no results, then he moved to the parental yard, where he discovered the historical find.
After viewing a large number of photographs of the find, experts from the National Council of Antiquities confirmed that it is really old metal, dating from 2000 to 4000 years, writes pori.fi.
Archaeologists believe that the remains of the sword were moved there along with the topsoil during construction work many years ago.
