In Bosnia, they rebuilt Ford into a Tesla Cybertruck. Now they can’t get a permit to operate

A fan from Mostar, Bosnia, found the wait for the Tesla Cybertruck to start selling too long, so he tasked the local company, Stark Solutions, to build his own. The result is mobile, but it is not yet possible to homologate for operation on local roads.

It took IT specialists and engineers from Stark Solution eight months to build the car. Beneath the futuristic shell that faithfully replicates the Tesla Cybertruck’s curves lies one of its main competitors with an internal combustion engine, the Ford F-150. The Stark Solutions team had to disassemble the American pick-up and then assemble and modify it.

The first test drive through the streets of Mostar attracted attention. “Half of the people thought we had built a tank because they didn’t know what Cybertruck was at all. But one girl stopped us and asked if Cybertruck would be built here in Bosnia,” he told pro. Reuters experiences Mario Coric, Stark Solutions Manager.

According to Corice, the customer wanted the company to combine two worlds: the shape of the Cybertruck and Ford technology. “He’s a fan of both brands,” he says, admitting that although Tesla’s pick-up shapes resemble him, the car is generally smaller than its electric model.

Stark Solutions is now trying to sign its creation “on the brand” and has so far come across authorities that, for safety reasons, refuse to grant a car with sharp body edges a permit to operate. After all, the fact that the rigid body with sharp edges will be an obstacle for the Cybertruck to obtain approval for operation in Europe, experts have pointed out earlier.

European cars have a relatively soft bow to protect pedestrians, so that they absorb a large part of their energy in the event of an impact. The design philosophy of the Cybertruck with a solid outer frame made of cold-rolled steel in this respect goes against the regulations in force. After all, Elon Musk has already stated on Twitter that a smaller version of the Cybertruck could be sold in Europe, so it can be expected that it will also have a modified design.

The pick-up introduced last year impressed with its unorthodox shapes and constructions. The car is bulletproof and has unbreakable glass, which, however, managed to be broken by a steel ball during a presentation by Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen. Tesla promises a range of up to 800 km on a single charge on the car, while the price of the basic version with a range of 400 kilometers should fit into one million crowns in the USA.

Cybertruck can be pre-ordered in the Czech Republic on the basis of a refundable deposit of 2,500 crowns, the first cars are to be produced at the end of next year. They will not leave the line in Bosnia, Tesla will build a new plant for them near the Texas capital Austin.
