In addition to being sentenced to 7 years in prison, the Former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) was also fined Rp.400 million in 3 months imprisonment.

The panel of judges stated that Imam was found guilty in a bribery case related to the handling of the KONI grant grant proposal and gratification from a number of parties.

“Prosecuting, declaring the defendant Imam Nahrawi has been proven legally and conclusively guilty of committing several criminal acts of corruption together and continuing,” said chief judge Rosmina in the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday.

The sentence was lighter than the demands of the KPK’s Public Prosecutor (JPU) of 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million in 6 months in prison.

Surprisingly enough, the panel of judges also inflicted additional crimes on politicians from the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the form of revocation of their right to be elected in public office for 4 years from the time the Imam finished his basic crime.
