In Jalisco, almost 20,000 vaccines have been applied against COVID-19 Abdala and no case of adverse reaction has been reported, reported Dr. Karla Guadalupe López, delegate of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in the State.
The official maintained that the biological of Cuban origin has shown high efficiency despite the questions and controversies for its application as reinforcement.
“We have been applying the vaccine throughout March and we have not had a single patient who has reported an adverse reaction to the drug and we have applied 20,000 doses. We are applying it in all our medical units. The only thing you have to bring is your card; we will be there until august“, said.
The delegate explained that Jalisco received 100,000 doses to apply to people over 18 years of age, stressed that reinforcement is necessary due to the time elapsed since the previous immunization campaign.
As reported by the IMSS, the Abdala vaccine has registered an efficacy of 92.28 percent against symptomatic diseaseas well as 98.1 percent in the prevention of severe pictures and 94.1 percent in the prevention of mortality.
This biological is contraindicated for people with a history of severe allergic reaction, anaphylaxis type and allergy to any component of the vaccine or a history of severe allergic reaction to a previous dose. It should also not be applied to people who have recently presented COVID-19 or still present symptoms.
Fernando Petersen Aranguren, head of the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ), pointed out last February that they made the decision not to apply this vaccine in the state health sector because they considered that there was insufficient information on the degree of protection it offered and the benefit to whoever receives it.
