Important guidance from the Ministry of Health for this category regarding nutrition

In an awareness publication of the Ministry of Health and Population on its official page on the social networking platform “Facebook”, she directed 5 healthy nutrition tips for the elderly to enhance their immunity in light of the emerging corona virus pandemic, as they are most vulnerable to infection with the virus.

The health tips for a healthy diet for the elderly came as follows:

Half of the food plate should contain fruits and vegetables, and a quarter should contain whole grains (such as barley, wheat, lentils, and beans) with brown bread, and the last quarter contains proteins.

Avoid eating foods high in salt, such as junk food, because they increase high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

Use a few healthy vegetable oils such as (sunflower oil, corn oil, and olive oil) as healthy alternatives to ghee and butter.

Eat a variety of low-fat or fat-free dairy products.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
