The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced the start of implementing the decision to localize the “optics sector” in all regions of Saudi Arabia. As of March 18, 2023, after the end of the grace period specified for the decision to localize this sector.

The decision to localize the “optics sector” includes the localization of two professions by 50%, namely: “medical optometrist and spectacles technician.” It applies to all private sector establishments operating in the labor market that employ 4 or more workers in the optics sector, whose names are specified in the target occupations table.

The Ministry confirmed that it will provide a package of incentives and support related to supporting private sector establishments to assist them in hiring Saudis, including: supporting the recruitment process and searching for suitable workers, supporting the necessary training and qualification process, and assisting the employment process and job stability for Saudis.

In addition to the priority of benefiting from all the Emiratisation support programs available to the system, and the support and employment programs through the Human Resources Development Fund “Hadaf” in order to organize the Saudi labor market, develop it and raise its efficiency, to increase the participation of male and female citizens in the private sector, and provide more quality job opportunities, and achieve job stability

The Ministry issued a guide that explains the details of the decision and the mechanism for its implementation. And she stressed the need for establishments to adhere to and abide by the implementation of the provisions of this decision, in order to avoid the statutory penalties that will be applied against violators.

This comes as a continuation of the Ministry’s efforts aimed at providing a stimulating and productive work environment for male and female citizens, increasing their level of participation in the labor market, and enhancing their contribution to the economic system.
