Immobile ready to take on the challenge against Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewandowski for the Golden Shoe

The Italy international scored 36 times last season to complete the 2019-20 season as the top scorer in European football.

Ciro Immobile takes on the challenge posed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski in another thrilling race to win the prestigious Golden Boot of European football. The Lazio forward is currently the holder of the award, having recorded an impressive 36 Serie A goals in the 2019-20 campaign. He still has 14 goals to his name this season and is currently preparing for a showdown with Bayern superstar Robert Lewandowski in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Italy international Ciro Immobile told the official UEFA website he was proud to have beaten two monsters in the Golden Boot race: “What do I like most about Robert Lewandowski? The fact that he’s never satisfied. Every year he tries to improve himself and surpass his limits, even if they are already exceptional. He’s a complete striker. I think he is currently the best No. 9 in the world, so you have to be very careful.

Robert Lewandowski and Ciro Immobile are set to face off this week when Lazio host Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 first leg. Former German striker Miroslav Klose – who has represented both clubs during his distinguished career – has been a reference to the center-forward position.
