IMM beaches, which offer daily trips to Istanbul residents in the city, started to serve on June 15. On the beaches, which started to be operated by İBB subsidiary BELTUR this season, many innovations were realized and various activities were started to be organized.
Another aspect of the change in IMM beaches was the women lifeguards who started working. Three women’s lifeguards joined the IMM staff, who provided peace and security on the beaches this year.
Doğa Yağcı, Ekin Öztürk and Kübra Çakır started their watch as the first female lifeguards to work at IMM to enjoy the sea pleasure of the guests.

İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu also posted a message on the social media page for lifeguards who took office. İmamoğlu said, “Our first female lifeguards started to work. More women will be present in all areas of IMM. He announced the development to Istanbul residents with the expressions of “success to each”.
“WOMEN CAN DO ANY JOB”
Doğa Yağcı, one of the lifeguards, stated that women will overcome every job and said:
* Very proud. In Turkey, there are very few female lifeguard. No business should leave as a woman. Because women can do anything. By applying, I have taken steps before to be accepted to this position. This year, thanks to the IMM, I completed my application and started lifeguard.
* I love this profession. We save lives, save lives. There is absolutely no discrimination between men and women in the trainings. Because we are women, they don’t tolerate us. It was a difficult process, but I think it was a successful training.
“I AM STOPPING TOGETHER”
Lifeguard Chief Gürkan Çetiner said that he is proud to work with his new co-worker and said, “I congratulate you for your self-confidence. He went through a very strict training. Despite him, he successfully overcame it. ”
Çetiner stated that people prefer to swim in areas away from the crowd due to the pandemic and made the following warning to the residents of Istanbul;
“Because of Covid 19, people prefer beaches where no one is available. They prefer beaches where there is no control and no lifeguard services. If they prefer the places provided by this service, there will be no casualties. ”
SERVICE IN 38 BEACHES OF ISTANBUL
The IMM started the beach lifeguard service to be provided in the period of May 15-September 13, 2020 on June 1 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Lifeguard teams affiliated to the Fire Brigade Department provide lifeguard services with 487 personnel in Istanbul.
It establishes confidence with 38 jet-skis, 7 zodiac boats, 2 drones, 14 ATV vehicles, 191 watchtowers and other materials used by lifeguards in rescue activities on 38 beaches with a length of 47 thousand 800 meters.
