A Korean user on Twitter shared photos of the new Surface Pro and Laptop. They look almost identical to their predecessors.
The last major update dates back to last year, when the Surface Laptop 3 was presented together with a new version of the Surface Pro 7. As usual, we can expect new updates to these Surfaces in October, but not this year. We did see the arrival of a new Surface Laptop Go model and an updated Surface Pro X.
The launch of the new Surface models – Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4 – is now expected around mid-January, but we already know what the devices will look like. On Twitter user @cozyplanes shared images of the new models that were supposedly intended for inspection in Korea. In it, he also communicates the model numbers for the devices to the rest of the world: 1950 for the Surface Laptop 4, 1960 for the Surface Pro 8 and 1961 for the latter with LTE.
But there is not much news to be seen in the photos. Because the new Surface models are almost identical to their predecessors. We will therefore have to expect the biggest changes internally. According to sources of Windows Central we can expect 11th generation Intel processors with an integrated Xe GPU. The Surface Laptop will also have AMD variants again, but nothing else is known about that. In all likelihood, this will be a modified Microsoft chip based on AMD’s Ryzen 4000 series, according to The Verge.
After the launch of the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop 4, Microsoft would also be the new one Surface Duo want to introduce in new markets, including several in Europe, it was announced earlier this week. A British provider would have already included the smartphone in its range and Germany could also expect a release. These are still rumors, so an exact date is not yet available. It would be somewhere between mid-March and July.
