I’m Not Strong, Just 2 Steps Out, Throat Dry Immediately

NEW DELHI, KOMPAS.com – A student Indonesia from India said it was hit heatstroke or heat stroke in the middle heat wave that hit half of the country.

The Indian government says the heatwave, with temperatures reaching more than 45 degrees Celsius, is affecting millions of people.

Anggy Eka Pratiwi, a doctoral student in Jodphur, Rajahsthan, said that during the fasting month, she had time to go out during the day and admitted that she had only stepped outside twice, and her throat was immediately dry.

India’s Meteorological Agency warned that temperatures would rise in parts of the state in the next five days. The air temperature reached 51 degrees Celsius in the city of Phalodi, about two hours from Jodphur, Rajashthan on Thursday (28/4/2022), the hottest ever recorded in India.

“As an Indonesian, I’m not strong. I was fasting and I went out to get a book, about 500 meters from where I live. I came back and was dizzy, didn’t go away and was often urinating… After three days I went to the doctor and was told this effects of dehydration and heatstroke and advised not to fast first. It is recommended not to leave the house for a week,” Anggy told reporters BBC News IndonesiaEndang Nurdin.

Anggy said the situation in the city was very quiet during the day and the campus advised students not to leave their homes from 12.00 pm to 17.00 pm.

“Besides the hot air, the wind is also very hot. When I go out I wear an umbrella, hat, and face covering. It’s really dry, the sweat disappears immediately,” said Anggy.

Doctoral student computer engineering it’s only been a year in Rajashthan. He said last year the air had reached 41 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius, but not as dry as it is now.

Anggy also said many buildings in Rajashtan are prepared to ward off the heat with masonry instead of bricks, which can reduce heat by around 10 degrees Celsius.
