Redbird Basketball Coaches to Appear Live Tonight from Pizza Payaa
NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Pedon and women’s basketball head coach Kristen Gillespie will appear live tonight from pizza Payaa in Normal as part of the Redbirds‘ weekly coaches show.
Fans can watch the broadcast live at pizza payaa, located at 107 E. Beaufort Street,or tune in via WJBC 1230 AM,the Varsity Network,and the Illinois State athletics Facebook page.
Former Illinois State standout and current assistant coach Katrina Beck will fill in for Coach Gillespie, joining host Greg Halbleib at 6 p.m. alongside ISU senior guard Taylor Veach. The women’s team recently competed in the Discover Puerto Rico Shootout over Thanksgiving, facing Rice, East Carolina, and Wake Forest, and will open Missouri Valley Conference play Wednesday against UNI, followed by a home game against Eastern Illinois on Sunday at 2 p.m. at CEFCU Arena.
Coach Pedon’s segment, hosted by John Fitzgerald and Mike Matthews, begins at 6:45 p.m. He will be joined by junior guard Ty Pence, who earned MVP honors at the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational after scoring a career-high 20 points and recording a double-double against Furman.
The Redbirds’ win over Furman marked the program’s first in-season Multi-Team Event title as the 2010-11 season.ISU currently holds a 6-2 record and will host Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday and Chicago State on saturday, both at 7 p.m. at CEFCU Arena.
