Illegal parties are gaining momentum in Europe as countries become more uncertain – Executive Digest

Portugal is not the only country to deal with the consequences of the lack of definition and to impose stricter measures with regard to gatherings – having prohibited, for example, the consumption of alcohol on public roads. As European governments soften restrictions, the number of illegal parties that threaten the health of thousands of people grows.

“In the past week, Europe has seen an increase in the number of weekly cases for the first time in months,” said Hans Kluge, regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe. Although he did not identify any specific country, he stressed that the situation is particularly serious in 11 countries.

According to The Guardian newspaper, illegal parties and raves have heightened fears that efforts made so far are in vain. When citizens are not responsible, it is up to the police to restore order. Around here, fines are in force today for those who do not comply with the new standards related to the pandemic of COVID-19. In Paris and Berlin, the authorities have been involved this week in clashes with groups of people who flocked without proper care.

Estimates from the same publication point to a 37% increase in the number of cases in Germany this week and a 12% increase in France. Contributing to less care on the part of the population is the good weather, which is also driving the British out of the house: earlier this month, two raves were detected in the Manchester region, which brought together around 6 thousand people.

Also in neighboring Spain, the government is concerned about the gatherings. “An outbreak caused by a small and innocent party … Only one outbreak could be the beginning of a new national epidemic”, warned Fernando Simón, from the Centro de Emergencias y Alertas Sanitarias.
