Illegal excavator transport through the city

Darmstadt (ots) – On Tuesday morning (November 24th) a radio patrol from the traffic inspection of the police headquarters in Landgraf-Georg-Straße stopped a heavy transport from the Main-Taunus district. The vehicle combination was loaded with two crawler excavators.

This so-called divisible load is only allowed under special circumstances for heavy loads. In the present case, it was not permitted because the transport company could not present a route driving license for the route to Darmstadt. The transport was therefore illegal, because the vehicle driver and transport company would have had to adhere to the permitted vehicle dimensions and weights.

Because the unloading point was in the immediate vicinity, the truck driver was escorted the last part to the destination for reasons of proportionality, appropriately secured by the police. He and the entrepreneur will probably not be spared a severe fine.
