It’s well known, summer rhymes with construction sites. And while at the time of summer holidays the traffic would like to be more fluid in Parisian region, it’s quite a hassle awaiting thousands of Ile-de-France motorists.

TheA86, the busiest highway in Ile-de-France, will be closed to traffic between A1 highways and A3 in both directions (inside and outside) from Monday July 30 at 9:30 p.m. to Tuesday August 28, 2018 at 5:30 a.m.

A closure decided by the direction of Ile-de-France roads (Dirif) in order to allow the modernization of the tunnels of Bobigny, from Lumen and of Norton. This program aims to consolidate the safety conditions for users in the tunnels, including the installation of new emergency exits and the replacement of ventilation equipment.

The work should allow the renovation of three tunnels.

The technical complexity of the interventions leads to favor continuous work for 4 weeks, 24 hours a day rather than split interventions during night closings to traffic over several consecutive months, “explains Dirif.

The section of the A86 motorway closed to traffic in both directions is located in the municipalities of Bobigny, Drancy and The Courneuve ((Seine-Saint-Denis):

  • internally (West> East), the A86 motorway is closed between the ramp to the A1 / A86 link and the access ramp no. 14 from avenue Paul Vaillant Couturier in Bobigny.
  • externally (East> West), the A86 motorway is closed between the common A86 / A3 trunk (the service to Bobigny Center by the ramp no. 14 will be maintained) and the insertion ramp no. 12 from the former RN2 at La Courneuve.

Dirifinvites motorists to take a bypass on the A1 and A3 (see map below).

The bypass should lengthen the journey time for users by 20 minutes.

The period chosen to carry out this work is the least penalizing in terms of road traffic, ”says Dirif.

Thus, the A86 will be open to traffic during the “crossover” of the last weekend in July and during the week before the start of the school year, the A86 is open to traffic.
