Ile-de-France: stolen dumpsters were rented at gold prices

A little everywhere in Ile-de-France, skips have vanished on the side of the roads, in recycling centers or companies: Epinay-sur-Seine, Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis), Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine), Goussainville, Arnouville (Val-d’Oise)…

It was first the recycling center of Aulnay-sous-Bois which saw three large containers evaporate at the end of January. An investigation by the local police station established that, at night, the skips were loaded onto a truck equipped with everything necessary to lift these imposing behemoths of several tons.

A man in detention

The police eventually found the authors. On March 3, they searched several homes in Jagny-les-Bois, Luzarches, Viarmes (Val-d’Oise). On these properties with large lots, they find three stolen skips and the truck used to transport them.

Three men are arrested. One of them was taken into custody for aggravated theft, and will appear in court on April 10.

All of them belong to the settled Traveler community. Two families already well known to the police are involved in the trafficking.

A juicy business

Thanks to these flights, they had set up a profitable business. The skips were rented between 5,000 and 10,000 € to professionals who stored their waste there.

They were then removed to theoretically go to a recycling center for remuneration. The rubble was actually dumped in the wild. The operation was very profitable for the crooks. Provisional damage has been assessed at € 600,000.
