Iker Casillas Announces Retirement from Football

Bola.net – A surprising announcement came from Iker Casillas. Goalkeeper FC Porto and living legend Real Madrid it was announced that he officially hung up his shoes and gloves this summer.

In the last two decades, Casillas is known as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He managed to show a very good performance when playing for Real Madrid and also the Spanish national team, where he has won a lot of prestigious trophies.

Since 2015 yesterday, Casillas moved to Portugal. He defended one of Portugal’s giant teams, FC Porto.

But five years later, Casillas announced that he had finished his career as a footballer. He announced the announcement on his Twitter account recently.

Casillas said that during his 22-year career as a professional footballer, he had gained a lot of satisfaction.

For that he felt this was the right time for him to resign.

“In a journey, the most important thing is the path you take and also the people who accompany you, not the destination you want to reach.”

“I think I can say without doubt that I have taken the right path and reached my dream destination. Thank you.”

Heart problem

Casillas’s decision to retire is suspected because of heart disease he experienced.

Last year, precisely in May 2019, the player suffered a heart attack while practicing. But he has recovered from the disease.

But because of this dangerous illness, he was not involved in the FC Porto squad this season, even though at the start of the season he was actually registered by Porto management.
